In a journal to her grandson, Louis, one of Jody's five 'Words of Wisdom' was "Always be learning".
Education was very important to Jody and Dick Vilardo and is something The Dick and Jody Vilardo Foundation values very highly. Both Jody and Dick were supporters of University alumni and Jody was a proud member of the prestigious Cornell University Hotel Society. With Dick's ties to the hotel business, our Foundation quickly understood that partnering with Cornell to provide a path for students to receive education in the field of Hotel Management was a perfect fit. We are aiming to raise $100,000.00 to create an endowed scholarship in Jody and Dick's name by the end of 2020. To receive the Jody and Dick Vilardo scholarship, Cornell University will be targeting students who are: (a) Majoring in Hotel Administration and (b) Participating in the Cornell Traditions Program; a program which requires community service hours of the student either at the University or in the city of Ithaca, NY. This insures our scholars support The Vilardo Foundation's mission of giving back to the community.
